We are newly formed Home Church diverse in ethnicity and age. Currently we have elderly, middle aged, teenagers and young children. Below is part of the text for our vision of forming not just one, but multiple house churches and or joining other semi-local house churches to network and build together.
Religion without Spirituality is dead, Spirituality without religion is lost. In an age where many who have struggled with their personal faith have “deconstructed,” we are purposefully reconstructing our faith by going back to our roots and looking at the early church.
We share aspirations to create simple house churches that are networked together, led by the spirit, in the traditions, context and history of our faith, subordinate to the word of God. (2 Pet1:20-21 Gal 5:18, Rom 8:13) (2 Thes 2:14-15, 1 Cor 11:2) (Mt 15:2-6).
Our hope is that God uses us to create a faith community which is simple and practical at heart. A community that is led by regular people, not a priestly class. A community that promotes real discipleship, fellowship and accountability. One that possesses a leadership structure firm and strong on the essentials, that provides solid guidance and direction, but at the same time allows for the development of a more personal faith and freedom in Christ on what might be considered gray areas.
We wish to live radical lives in Christ dedicated to service and love of each other and the lost. We want to be transformed by the spirit, and to serve in love, humility and faith. We want to be in the world, but not of the world, and meet the lost where they are at (1 Cor 9:19-23). We seek to grow through active discussion, and critical thinking not regurgitated theology or denomination specific interpretations.
We don’t expect we can be perfect. We do not claim to have all the answers, and we disagree in love on some of the details. In a world that is growing increasingly hostile to any form of Christianity we believe it is time to step out of our boxes respectfully, when possible, and return to the unity Christ called us to (1 Cor 1:10, Gal 3:28, Jn 13:35, Rom 14:19)
Please feel free to message us, and get to know us. We want you to feel comfortable before you come to meet with us. No pressure or arm twisting here, we just want to love and serve our brothers and sisters.
If you are interested in our Statement of faith… either the short or long version we would be happy to provide you with one. Our philosophy of Church structure and order is “as loose as possible,” but we also abide be a basic structure laid out in our church framework that establishes guidelines as it may be necessary to avoid conflict or confusion.
