I’m proposing starting something new. Here are my ideas.
We seek to get to know each other better. Let down our defenses and be who we really are. This may also open the opportunity to pray for each other or give insight in a respectful way.
We encourage asking and discussing challenging questions. There is so much new information being released that we have to fit into our worldview like no other time in history. Some of this information fits easily, some does not. All too often we are fighting these battles with no or very little morale support. No one has all the answers, but an understanding ear can be very helpful.
Although our primary beliefs can be traced back to Protestantism and Evangelicals, we seek to keep growing beyond these systematic institutions. For instance, be like a Berean and question what people have said over the last 1,900 years. Question whether we are all called to be evangelists.
Most importantly. Are you tired of being fake? Perhaps you’re afraid of being authentic because it wouldn’t be considered “Christian.” What would they think? Learn to be yourself. If it’s bad, at least others can pray for you. There shouldn’t be this overarching idea that if you talk plain, others will ostracize you even though they’re probably doing much worse things in secret. We all need a safe place we can be ourselves. Wouldn’t it be nice if this was with fellow believers at church?
What you should probably know about me. I’m no poster child for Christianity. I have recently seen the hypocrisy in my own life and I’ve been on a journey to take the log out of my own eye. I try to remain open to all information and follow where the evidence leads. I’m kind of an intellectual in other words. I’ve been accused of leaning on my own understanding. Which I know I do all too often. But whose understanding exactly am I suppose to lean on? Yours? I don’t think so. Just a little taste of my personality 🙂
